Can Cats Have Birth Stories as Well?

I know moms often feel a need to relive every moment of their labor & delivery... and it's most often because it's the most traumatic and most memorable event in their life. You almost can't even believe it all happened, so writing it out ...makes it "real."

Well, White Russian had one of those deliveries that other moms anxiously share with others because it was THAT interesting/one of a kind.

Let me first say that you will probably not hear more about the beautiful pint above. We named her Samuel (Sammy) Adams, and I feel she deserved an intro because... she came in strong against all odds... and having to be pushed back in and rotated many times because of how she was positioned in her first attempts out.

We went with the founding fathers' theme because... well my husband is a nerd, and he insisted with the 4th of July upon us. He added Samuel Adams because we needed a girl name, and this one made him thirsty. Little known fact ...he and the Sons of Liberty got tanked at the Green Dragon Tavern and decided to lead the boys over to Boston Harbor. They plundered a British ship where they stole and drank more rum. They threw the unwanted beverages in the harbor ....historians call it a tea party. So there you go...

Sadly, this beautiful pint is not thriving and now is not eating, so I do not think there will be another update with her. :(

Let me back up from the beginning...

White Russian was due and gave birth to the 4 pints you have seen on June 21st. You would have never guessed that more than 10 days PRIOR... she also gave birth. Not many people know cats are capable of doing this, but you learn so much being a breeder. It is not common, but they can deliver the unwell/sick/deformed babies.... and still carry on the rest of the pregnancy until their due date. She gave birth to this underdeveloped baby almost 2 weeks before she delivered the rest. After she delivered this one... she went on like nothing happened. Sorry it is so graphic, but I am sure some would be curious. Plus, you can't report me like you can on social media so nana nana boo boo #youcantgetme

So you see... the fact she even gave birth to 4 developed breathing babies... we were already celebrating. My vets (and I have several) have heard of cats doing this but had never SEEN it, so they were cheering White Russian on as much as we were here. I am sad that Sammy won't make it, but... we are praying the other 3 stay strong. Please wish them well. We are already so proud of them.
